Clutter has a negative impact on our productivity and we don’t want that in our workspace. We want our work-space clutter-free, organized and tidy.

A well-organized workspace minimizes distractions and stresses leading us to focus on our day-to-day tasks.

Reasons to be organized

Promotes efficiency
- Stop wasting time looking for things that you need. Knowing where to get and where to put things back is a good habit. You will get more things done and saves time.

Helps you focus - Clutter can be overwhelming and can be distracting when you are working on a complex idea or solution. Get rid of clutter and let your mind creates ideas without interruptions.

Brings success – Organized workspace promotes productivity and consistency. Being focused on a project or task you are working on ensures quality at work while meeting your deadlines.

What makes your workspace unorganized?

Small things that you grab every minute can make your space messy, like folders, files, pens, coffee mugs, chips, and post-it reminders.  Scan your table and eliminate those things that you don’t really need and have an intended space for things that you can’t work without.

There are times when we don’t really have enough time to clean up. During that busy times, choose which clutter you can tolerate. Accept that you cannot do anything about it for now and schedule the cleanup for later on. When your workspace is limited add another tool for organizing, be creative, and maximize your workspace.

What you can do

Layout your desk right.
Before starting your work, prepare things that you will need positioning them within your reach. Remove unimportant things and keep them in their designated boxes or drawers.

Minimize snacks and drinks on your desks.
When we are busy, we tend to eat in our office to save time. Sometimes we always have chips and drinks on the table. This can be messy and a distraction.

Be consistent
Keeping your workspace organized can be challenging. It is important to master the habit of putting things back to where it should be.

  1. I think you are right. Being organized can help us finish our our work faster and more efficiently. This is one of the things I often took for granted. My reason is that since I am multi-tasking most of the time, I have my things for my online work as well as the things I needed for my offline job on top of my desk. Making my table so topsy-turvy. I will have this article as a reminder whenever I work. Thank you for sharing such a helpful post.
